Happy New Half-Year!
Happy New Half-Year! So, how’s your progress coming along with those New Year’s Resolutions you made six months ago? I don’t know about you, but if I am being truthful with myself, I must confess that I have not made much headway toward conquering my 2018 New Year’s Resolution List. (In fact, I can’t even find my list!) It would be so easy to mentally walk myself to the classroom blackboard and write “I will keep my New Year’s Resolutions” over and over again, but I am not going to let myself dwell on this setback. If you find that you, too, are a bit behind in accomplishing your “New Year, New You” aspirations, don’t be discouraged. It’s time to celebrate and cheer, “Happy New Half-Year!”
Monday, July 2nd, is the 182nd day of the year, which mathematically means that from 12:00 noon onward, we are beginning the second half of 2018! Yes, already! At my age, it’s very exciting to think that I don’t have to try to stay awake till midnight for this big event. I can begin the celebration countdown almost as soon as I wake up in the morning and get the partying completed before it’s time to start cooking dinner! The second half of the year gives you and me 130 weekdays and 52 weekend days to refocus. Hmmm. That’s really a lot of time when I could accomplish a lot. Because I do suffer from routinely losing lists (of all kinds!), I have decided to really focus on what is most important, so I have crossed out two of the three resolutions that I usually make and am determined to succeed with just one, very important goal.
First, I’ve crossed out the “eat healthier, lose weight, and exercise more”. After all, summer is practically over so I don’t have to worry about going swimsuit shopping! Next, I’ve eliminated the “spend less, save more” resolution as well. There are so many items that go on sale during the last six months of the year that I do believe I can shop the sales and actually make money! LOL! So, what’s my one remaining resolution? Enjoy life! After all, as one of my best friends often reminds me, “Yesterday is gone”, “Tomorrow is not promised”, “Today is in your hands”. Great advice for everyone! So let’s toast to the remaining six months of 2018 and make each day remarkable!
